Episode Details: Join us as we talk to the Executive Editor of WebMD Magazine, Ms. Laura J. Downey, as she shares gems about the power of humility and how following God's plan versus your own is the path to true and lasting success.

Laura knows all about success because her experience spans worldwide in all the most star-studied industries. Laura has worked as a journalist for PEOPLE magazine, ran down the street with Diddy, aka "Love" to get one of his famous quotes, she held multiple interviews with Jay-Z, along with countless other celebrities. She also worked for Forbes Travel Guide, being a real-life globetrotter staying in the fanciest hotels, then putting on her ministry hat to lead mission trips in multiple countries. Laura has done it all and testifies that Jesus Christ is the reason for her many opportunities and extraordinary successes. In our candid interview, she openly shared her experience with faltering in pride and the journey to falling and rising again through God's grace, the power of humility, and dependence on God.

Podcast Mission: Truth Vs. Lies podcast is about uncovering deception and awakening critical thinking skills in our listeners. We do this by spotlighting what God says to be true versus false ideas and erroneous world views, inspiring our listeners to think and live in the light of truth.

Highlighted Truth: Relationship with God and humility is the true key to long-lasting success.

Lie: Striving for success is the key to success.

Lie: You must do whatever it takes to get to the top.

Lie: Everybody compromises their morals to be successful.

Scriptures:

I Peter 5:6-7 (NLT) "So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you."

James 4:10 (NLT) "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor."

The Proof: After this podcast episode on God and Humility, Laura experienced yet another blessing and was chosen to be featured on the WW (Weight Watchers) National  Fall Campaign that launched a few weeks ago! Look at God!

Here is Laura's testimony on what God did for her through WW (Weight Watchers)

"Earlier this year on Instagram, Weight Watchers (now known as WW) asked its members to write in and share their weight loss stories. So I wrote in to share my journey. I didn't hear anything back immediately, but in July, I heard from someone in their brand casting department. We initially had a Zoom meeting, and from there, things escalated quickly. She asked if I wanted to be a part of a photo shoot they would have for their Fall campaign in New York City. I said, "Yes!" How often do you have an opportunity to be a model for a national brand?! And then, in August, they flew me to NYC for an all-paid 4-day shoot. Once there, they put me up in a hotel, I met other WW members, did a fitting, participated in the photo shoot, and they even sent me home with some items from the photo shoot. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity. The photographer even connected me with a casting agency for future work. I am thankful to God for always opening doors that no man can shut."
